**The Technology, Digital and Data team**

MinterEllison is currently offering an opportunity for a Senior Associate or Special Counsel to work as part of our leading Technology, Digital and Data team, based in Melbourne.

You will work on frontend IT contracting, with a particular focus on the privacy and data protection aspects of technology and other contracts. You will also work on complex privacy and data protection matters for public and private sector clients.

**The role**

Working with a national group of specialised privacy, cyber and IT lawyers, partners and consultants, you will assist clients in achieving their business and policy objectives. Your role will be varied and challenging, covering general privacy advisory (Commonwealth and State), Spam Act, FOI, cyber advisory (including specialist regimes such as the SOCI Act), privacy impact assessments, data breach response, and frontend contracting advice, drafting and negotiation.

This is an ideal opportunity to be involved in a range of interesting and intellectually stimulating matters, and to work alongside our cyber and technology consulting teams.

As a senior lawyer you will be working with both public and private sector clients. These clients trust MinterEllison with their biggest and most complex matters. You will be part of a team, collaborating across practice areas and across offices, working with individuals who are recognised as leaders in their fields.

**What you need**

To be successful in this role you will have excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with a desire to learn quickly and a commitment to ongoing professional development. You will be passionate about IT, privacy and data protection law and committed to delivering innovative solutions in an evolving and dynamic regulatory environment.
- Minimum of 5 years' post admission experience
- Australia, UK or NZ qualified
- Strong experience in IT contracting, privacy and data protection law
- Strong technical skills and the ability to deliver quality, commercial and pragmatic advice under pressure
- Strong advice and contract drafting skills
- A strong client focus and demonstrated ability to form enduring relationships with peers, clients and industry experts
- Strong communication and relationship skills
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
- An interest in and willingness to contribute to business development initiatives including presentations, client training and publications
