NOVA Engineering is hiring a CMT Engineering Technician in Charlotte, NC to perform a variety of field testing, project specific observations, and site assessment duties for our Construction Materials Testing service line.
You will operate equipment, conduct tests/assessments and report data from drawings, specifications, diagrams, schematics and specific verbal and written instructions.
Uses specific methods to observe site activities and take samples and perform tests.This inspector will help ensure public safety by traveling to construction sites to inspect the contractor's work and perform basic field soil and concrete tests under the direction of other NOVA technicians or engineering professionals to verify the work is performed in accordance with project specifications.
With minimal paperwork involved, all inspections/observations and test data are input on smart phones/tablets in the field for immediate transmittal to our Project Managers for review.Responsibilities:Performing field materials testing of soil, concrete, masonry, rebar, asphaltPreparing detailed and complete field reports with all relevant test results and inspections/observations providedPerforming basic laboratory tests on soil and concrete and preparing reports of resultsEvaluating site and subgrade conditions on construction projects and providing recommendationsCommunicating with clients, contractors, and engineering and technician staff regarding construction issuesQualifications:High School Diploma (or equivalent).
