**Job description**

Sunflower Support Services is seeking Mental Health Support Workers to assist our participants to access the community, develop skills combined with assistance in and with their homes.

Experience in the Mental Health sector is highly preferred.

Mental Health Support Workers will be expected to manage the challenging and concerning behaviors, in conjunction with seeking assistance or direction from their upline.

To give you a sense of what the day to day job may look like, here are some examples of things that we might do with our participants:

- Meet with them in their homes and build rapport. Discuss what the participant has planned for the day and what support they need, such as grocery shopping or attending appointments.
- Attending an event, going for a walk or engaging in community activities.
- Helping with personal administration, e.g Booking doctors appointments, paying bills or helping to connect the participant to a community event.
- Improving physical health by exercising outside or attending a gym.
- Helping them to live independently by assisting with cleaning their home, gardening or cooking meals.

Successful applicants will be available over a 24-hour roster, 7 days per week inclusive of inactive overnight shifts.

A range of conditions experienced by our participants in the community includes Schizophrenia, Depression, Anxiety, Psychosis, and other psychiatric conditions. It is important for staff values to align with our mission and beliefs in that every person that we serve is individual as are their needs and presentations of conditions.

This job requires you to provide in-home and outdoor support, so you will have to travel to the client's location.

We are looking for someone who has knowledge about basic PTSD and complex illnesses.

**Requirements**:

- English Language fluency
- Car/ Full Licence/Car insurance
- Certificate III in Disability
- Certificate IV in Mental Health Support / Diploma in Mental Health Support
- Double Vaccinated
- NDIS Screening
- WWC paid
- Police Check
- Available immediately
