Our Financial Services unit encompasses Corporate Accounting and Treasury, Financial Planning and Analytics, and Strategic Procurement. We strive to empower sound financial decisions that supports the University's strategy, students and community.

**About the role**

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will take ownership of the financial accounting functions across the University and its controlled entities. You will lead and manage the Corporate Accounting, Asset Accounting, and Treasury & Revenue teams, delivering high quality technical accounting, compliance and taxation advice to the University.

As a trusted advisor, you will provide financial insights to the CFO, senior executives, and Council, aiding critical decision-making processes. You will also contribute to the strategic and operational direction of the Financial Services unit, playing a key role in shaping the financial future of the University.

Key responsibilities include:

- Own the Annual Financial Reporting process, external audit, tax compliance, banking functions, accounts receivable and fixed asset accounting.
- Provide insightful analysis and presentation of financial statements and information.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team, promoting a culture of collaboration and a commitment to provide great support to University stakeholders
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance financial operations.
- Build relationships with key internal stakeholders and external service providers.

**About you**

To succeed in this role, you will have:

- A degree in accounting, business, or equivalent, along with postgraduate qualifications and professional membership (CPA, ACCA, or CAANZ).
- Extensive management experience in financial accounting, taxation, compliance, and internal controls within a large and complex organisation.
- Proven ability to deliver accurate financial reports under tight deadlines.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience managing and motivating teams.
- Demonstrated capability as a trusted business advisor
- Advanced spreadsheet skills (Microsoft Excel) and proficiency in Office tools like Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- A commitment to promoting a safe, healthy, and respectful workplace culture.
