**Position Description**
The Team Leader, People and Culture is responsible for delivering a range of human resource (HR) services, information and advice in accordance with relevant Commonwealth legislative and policy requirements to the Courts internal stakeholders. This position provides day-to-day first level supervision to a team of four HR Officers, who undertake transactional HR duties, assist stakeholders with using HR systems, and provide Enterprise Agreement and Policy interpretation advice.
The incumbent of this position must be client-focused, have excellent attention to detail, have an ability to easily build rapport and have relevant experience working in HR in a Commonwealth Public Service agency or department.
The ability to continuously identify and make recommendations to the Deputy Director, People and Culture on potential improvements that could be made to HR services is also essential.
**Duties**
- Ownership of the HR general enquiries mailbox including allocating tasks to the HR Officers.
- Supervising and assisting with workload management of the HR Officers across their day-to-day duties.
- Providing first-level technical advice to Court stakeholders and escalating exceptional queries to the relevant Executive level HR employee. This includes assisting HR Officers with ensuring the Courts Policies and Enterprise Agreement (EA) and other relevant legislation is correctly interpreted and applied.
- Preparing Individual Flexibility Agreements and Determinations issued under the Public Service Act 1999.
- Assisting with drafting HR information for the Court's intranets and newsletter.
- Being a driver and key player on relevant HR projects, including assisting with developing, and implementing HR policies and procedures, among other duties.
- Identifying training gaps within the HR Officer team to grow and develop their careers.
- Liaising with external vendors for both trouble shooting and system enhancements, as directed.
- Escalating issues to the Deputy Director, People and Culture as necessary
**Selection Criteria**
- Demonstrated human resource experience relevant to a Commonwealth Public Service agency or department.
- Ability to effectively manage a large workload within a fast-paced environment, including monitoring that of a small team to ensure continually changing deadlines are met.
- Interpersonal skills with an ability to interpret situations and escalate issues, as needed.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with good attention to details.
**Other Requirements**
- Some interstate travel will be required.
- Experience working with Aurion HRMIS (the Court's payroll system) and a separate e-recruitment, onboarding and learning management system.
