The purpose of the Technical Advisor is to provide claims staff with guidance, support, and coaching in relation to technical and legal aspects of the claims management process in the Workers Compensation context. The role provides detailed information and advice to the business regarding Legislative changes, legal precedents. This includes recommendations for procedural enhancements and updates, optimal management of claims by reference to legal obligations, service standards and financial risk management.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide technical advice, training and mentoring to staff in respect of the legislation and claims management procedures with a focus on technical skill, balanced with individual circumstances
- Provides advice to the Consultants, Workers Compensation Claims to ensure all claims are progressing appropriately to closure
- Provide expert technical advice and strategies to stakeholders in respect of claims management
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with employers and other key stakeholders

**Skills & Experience**
- Able to effectively build and manage relationships with business partners
- A record of success in managing technically complex Workers Compensation claims
- Able to effectively analyse statistical data for claims trends
- Able to interpret and communicate changes in workers compensation case law & legislation
- Technical Training needs analysis, coaching and facilitation
- Sound, balanced judgement and decision making
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Law or Insurance (desired)
- Sound knowledge of the Workers Compensation & Injury Management system, procedures and legislation (desired)
