Base pay range
A$139,860.00/yr - A$149,485.00/yr
Responsibilities
Supports the establishment and organisational readiness of the Inspector.
Leads the development, coordination and implementation of strategic communications and engagement activities that support the objectives and functions of the Local Government Inspector.
Manages public and media relations on behalf of the Inspector, including the preparation of public statements, media responses, speeches, briefings, and issues management protocols.
Develops and maintains engagement strategies that support awareness, trust and understanding of the Inspectorate's role in complaint assessment, compliance monitoring, investigations and early intervention.
Plans, coordinates, implements and evaluates digital communications and social media strategies, campaigns and activities across a range of online platforms aligned with strategic priorities and communication strategies.
This includes planning and delivery of information sessions, events and campaigns.
Builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders, including local governments, peak sector bodies, community groups, the public, the media, and other regulatory or integrity agencies.
Works closely with senior departmental officers and Inspectorate officers to ensure communications align with the Inspector's regulatory objectives, and that complex or sensitive issues are managed with consistency and integrity.
Develops high-quality written materials including reports, communication plans, educational content, FAQs and sector resources that support transparency and accountability.
Coordinates responses to media enquiries, monitors public commentary, and provides timely advice on emerging reputational or sector-wide issues.
Contributes to the development of Inspectorate media and communication strategies and policies that have a public or stakeholder interface.
Undertake travel for business needs and work outside business hours as required.
Qualifications & Licenses
Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field would be an advantage.
Current Western Australian C or C-A class drivers' licence or equivalent.
