Key Duties and Accountabilities
- Perform and lead the statutory functions of the Valuer-General as contained in the Land Valuation Act 2010 including oversight and governance of the delegations of these functions.
- Provide strategic and professional technical leadership, for processes under the Act, that facilitate the independent determination of statutory land valuations throughout Queensland. In particular: technical leadership and oversight to:

- Actively participate and inform activities to support modernisation of the statutory land valuation framework (including legislative and policy review and systems improvements).
- Oversight and governance of appropriate and effective delegation structures.
- Act implementation and statutory compliance
- Through monitoring and oversight of the valuation system, ensure that valuations are regularly updated and that there is timely provision of fair, accurate and consistent valuation information for the people of Queensland, to rating and taxing authorities and other information users.
- Develop, review, analyse, simplify and establish consistent practices across the State Valuation Service.
- Provide independent strategic policy advice and recommendations to Government and a range of stakeholders, in the assessment and issuing of statutory land valuations for all rateable properties in Queensland, in accordance with the Act.
- Work in collaboration with the Executive Director, State Valuations Service, to formulate and execute strategic priorities for the business, to underpin the long-term sustainability of the State Valuation Service.
- Constructively engage with key stakeholders to provide advice and seek input regarding land valuation matters.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the senior executive and key staff in Resources, other government agencies and collaboration stakeholders as related to technical land valuation matters.
- Represent the Queensland Government in state, national and international forums; delivery formal and informal presentations to senior government officials on matters pertaining to land valuations.
- Other duties as directed and required.
