This pivotal role ensures financial sustainability, coordinates diverse income streams, and supports the delivery of culturally grounded programs and services.
The CFO oversees all financial functions—including budgeting, reporting, auditing, and compliance with funding requirements.This role is based in Derby, Western Australia.
Relocation support is provided to the successful candidate.About the Dambeemangaddee people :We are the Traditional Owners of the land and waters along the north-west Kimberley coastline, extending from the Robinson River, just north of Derby to the Prince Regent River in the far north of the Kimberley region in WA.

Our Country is of great conservation significance, home to many threatened and endemic species, mighty rivers, coral reefs, powerful whirlpools, rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, and more than 700 islands.

We want to return to Country, live on our homelands, regain control, and teach future generations.About the Corporation :Dambimangari Aboriginal Corporation (DAC) is a small, community-driven organisation based in one of the most remote and spectacular regions of the Kimberley.
We represent and work for the Dambimangari Traditional Owners, guided by Law and Culture.
With a team of over 50, most of whom are Traditional Owners, DAC delivers a wide range of programs and services that support our people, protect Country, and strengthen culture.
Our key functions include :Managing Native Titles and stakeholder engagement (mining, tourism, development)Members services in health, education, and wellbeingLand and sea management, including ranger programs and marine parksCultural heritage and visitor managementEconomic development and remote infrastructureCorporate Services (finance, admin, payroll)About the Role :As DAC's CFO, you'll provide strategic financial leadership across the organization, ensuring robust financial management, compliance, and sustainability in support of community-driven programs and priorities.
Key responsibilities include :Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting aligned with DAC's strategic goalsPrepare annual budgets for the corporation as a wholeSupport team leaders in the management of their annual budgetsOversee financial operations including payroll, procurement, and complianceCoordinate and streamline income streams from grants, commercial activities, and service deliveryEnsure compliance with government funding agreements and reporting obligationsProvide strategic financial advice to the CEO and BoardPresent financial reports at Board and Finance sub-committee meetingsMentor and develop a high-performing finance teamPromote culturally safe financial practices and build financial literacy across the organizationAbout You :You are a proactive and professional financial leader with a strong sense of cultural respect, integrity, and confidentiality.
You bring :Minimum 5 years' experience in senior financial leadership roles, ideally in not-for-profit, Aboriginal-controlled, or government-funded organisationsProven experience in managing complex budgets, financial compliance, and risk managementExperience working with Aboriginal communities or organisations (highly desirable)Strategic financial planning and analytical expertiseProficiency in MYOB, Xero, Excel, and ERP systemsStrong leadership and team development capabilitiesOutstanding communication skills underpinning ability to present financial data to diverse audiencesSkilled in stakeholder engagement and relationship managementCommitment to ethical financial stewardship and community accountabilityQualifications & Requirements :Tertiary qualifications in Accounting and/or FinanceCA / CPA or equivalent (desirable)Ability to obtain and maintain a recent National Police Clearance and undertake a pre-employment medical including drug & alcohol screeningReady to Apply?
