This role is based at our WHSmith Australia Support Office in Woolloomooloo, just a 10-minute walk from Town Hall station.
About the Position
As a Buyer at WHSmith Australia, you will be responsible for ranging, buying, and managing product categories within the Impulse team, ensuring our offerings are innovative, customer-led, and commercially successful.
You will have the autonomy to develop and implement category strategies within the Impulse category.
Your responsibilities will include:
Sourcing and developing supplier relationships to maximize opportunities for the right merchandise at the right price and time
Growing and developing new strategic business areas
Researching market trends, product history, supplier information, current trends, and competitor activity
Analyzing sales, profit, stock-turn, markdowns, and supplier performance
Conducting financial analysis of sales, margins, stock levels, and markdowns, and adjusting merchandise plans accordingly
Identifying opportunities to increase rebates across the category
Maintaining collaborative relationships with stores through regular visits
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will have a passion for buying within Impulse categories and be committed to helping our business grow and succeed.
The following qualities are also essential:
Minimum of 5 years proven experience as a Buyer
Experience as an Impulse or FMCG Buyer is preferable
Exceptional negotiation skills
Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and market information
Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain supplier relationships
A results-driven approach focused on meeting targets
The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
