This role will see you enhance your capabilities and the reputation of WSP's**Sustaining Capital Rail team. You will collaborate with talented professionals working on iconic projects to drive future ready outcomes that will benefit clients and communities.

For over 20-years, our team has been the preferred heavy haul rail partner for Tier 1 iron-ore miners in Western Australia. Our teams have successfully delivered designs for rail, roads, and NPI infrastructure across the Pilbara region for all iron ore operators. As a Civil Designer, you will join a friendly, highly skilled and experienced team of professional at our centrally located Perth CBD office and will contribute to the delivery of Rail Program of works.

Working collaboratively across borders and disciplines, you'll join a leading team working on interesting and complex projects. We are experts in our field, and we are passionate about mining.

**What you'll do**:

- Prepare preliminary and detailed civil designs for various civil engineering projects within the rail and mining environment.
- Undertake preliminary and final designs, prepare concept drawings, and engage in design and drawing reviews.
- Perform 2D and 3D modeling and prepare detailed engineering drawings.
- Ensure timely completion of tasks to maintain project schedules.
- Ensure compliance with client and company review processes.
- Liaise with engineers to establish design criteria and ensure project goals are met.
- Coordinate design and documentation efforts with other engineering and drafting team members, and liaise closely with team members to ensure designs are delivered on time, within budget and according to client specifications.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior designers and drafters.
- Communicate effectively with all team members and stakeholders, and demonstrate a strong commitment to a team-focused approach.

**About You**

You're likely to have**demonstrated experience in preparing civil designs for mining or rail projects and are looking to join a skilled and friendly team. In addition, you will bring the following skills and attributes:

- Advanced Diploma, Diploma or Associate Degree.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a civil designer position.
- Proficiency and demonstrated experience using Bentley MicroStation and 12D.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly.
- Ability to use theoretical knowledge of civil drafting principles to analyse and interpret information.
- Capability to work autonomously as well as collaborate effectively with other team members.
- High attention to detail and strong time management skills.
- Previous experience working on rail or Pilbara mining projects is preferred, but not essential.
