Casual LibrarianSalary $44.72 - $51.87 per hour + 25% casual loading + superWorking with Children Check requiredFriendly and supportive team environmentAbout Ku-ring-gai CouncilLocated 16 km's north of the Sydney CBD, the Ku-ring-gai area covers 84km2, is home to 124,000 residents and set in one of New South Wales' most attractive natural environments.About the roleCouncil is seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Casual Librarian to join our vibrant library team.As a Casual Librarian, you will provide friendly, efficient and knowledgeable service to library customers across our branches.Your duties will include, but are not limited to:Provide professional readers' advisory, reference, and circulation servicesAssist with library programs, events, outreach, and specialist servicesLead small teams as required, including training, supervising and evaluating performancePromote and support the library's vision and services to both internal and external customersMaintain and assess library collections, and carry out workroom tasksSupport day-to-day library operations and respond to operational challenges as neededPerform physical tasks such as moving library materials, equipment, and furniture in line with safe manual handling practicesRequired qualifications, skills and experience:A professional qualification in Library/Information Science or equivalentEligibility for Associate Membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)A valid Working with Children Check (for Paid Workers)Demonstrated experience in delivering high-quality customer service in a public library environmentPractical experience in readers' advisory, reference services, circulation duties, and participation in public programsProven ability to follow instructions, set priorities, and meet deadlinesStrong problem-solving, conflict resolution, negotiation, and time management skillsHigh proficiency in using computers, mobile devices, and applications including Microsoft Office, social media, and e-resourcesExcellent written and verbal communication and presentation skillsStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with a diverse team and customer baseInitiative, flexibility, and enthusiasm to work independently or collaborativelyBenefitsCasual / flexible rosters25% casual loadingFriendly and supportive team environmentFree confidential Employee Assistance ProgramBeautiful Ku-ring-gai LocationFor more information on the benefits offered at Ku-ring-gai Council, please refer to our website click here .
As a part of the branch network team this role will be required to work at any of our libraries as rostered.
