Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ) is offering a temporary opportunity for a highly experienced Director, Legal to join the Corporate Leadership Team.Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, Corporate Directors are responsible for providing expert advice to stakeholders and providing leadership to support the regulation of safety and health in Queensland's resources industries in line with RSHQ's strategic plan.The Director, Legal provides expert legal advice to senior stakeholders, leads the development and implementation of RSHQ's legal strategy, manages legal risks, and oversees the legal functions across RSHQ.The Successful Candidate Should DemonstrateFinancial stewardshipEfficient management of team resources and workload prioritization to deliver outcomesExperience working with diverse stakeholders on complex issuesResponsibilities of the Director, LegalProviding expert legal advice to senior executives and internal stakeholders to manage legal, regulatory, and compliance matters impacting RSHQ's strategic goalsLeading RSHQ's legal team, providing leadership and guidanceManaging service delivery, including relationships with external legal providers and ensuring qualityStaying abreast of legal advancements and developing innovative legal responsesAssessing the impact of environmental changes on relevant legislation and frameworks to ensure alignment with strategic and governmental goalsLeading the legal team in providing legal servicesManaging external provider relationshipsDegree qualifications in law and admission as a legal practitioner eligible to practice in Queensland are essential.Applicants are encouraged to read the attached role description and contact the officer for more information.Applications will remain current for up to 12 months and may be considered for other similar vacancies.Appointments are subject to criminal history checks and disclosures of disciplinary actions and conflicts of interest, in accordance with the Public Sector Act 2022.Applicants should apply online by clicking the 'APPLY ONLINE' button.Documents should be in Microsoft Word or PDF format; zipped files are not accepted.Occupational group: Justice & Legal
