The Organisation
Proudly serving Australians since 1928, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) provides emergency aeromedical and allied health services for people in rural and remote Australia. We strive towards improving the health and wellbeing of our rural communities and believe in creating opportunities, so all Victorians have the choice to access essential primary health care services.
About the Role
We're excited to introduce two newly created Mental Health Clinician roles within the Flying Doctor Wellbeing program, supporting individuals, families, and groups in regional and remote communities. These roles combine both face-to-face and telehealth care, working closely with internal teams and local services to deliver accessible, coordinated mental health support.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Deliver evidence-based mental health interventions and manage a full client caseload, including intake, assessment, and care coordination.
- Monitor and manage clinical risk in consultation with supervisors and participate in regular clinical supervision.
- Travel regularly to isolated communities to provide in-person support and refer clients within the stepped care framework.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to support client outcomes and promote the service through community engagement.
- Maintain accurate clinical records, uphold confidentiality, and contribute to quality improvement and governance activities.
To be successful, you will need:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Mental Health Social Work, Psychology (generalist or clinical), or Credentialled Mental Health Nursing.
- Minimum five years of clinical experience supporting individuals across all age groups in mental health settings.
- Strong clinical skills in assessment, intervention, and care planning, with a deep understanding of challenges faced by rural and remote communities.
- Satisfactory completion of safety screening including a current Working with Children's Check, National Police Check, and the right to work in Australia.
Our Benefits
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
- Access to salary packaging options to reduce your taxable income
- Fitness passport – a discounted gym membership to gyms and pools that both you and your family can enjoy
- Great parental leave benefits in addition to government parental leave.
