Within CIOD, the ICT Operations Branch manages ICT infrastructure, networks, end-user platforms, cloud services, and ICT operations.The End User Services section delivers user-centred, high-quality digital services including SOE management, corporate device support, desktop application packaging, Microsoft 365, collaboration tools, and remote access.The Senior Windows Desktop Engineer will contribute to the design, development, maintenance, and support of enterprise end-user technologies, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable ICT environments.Key Duties And ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, maintain, and support:Windows Standard Operating Environment (SOE), desktop software, and corporate device configurations (desktop/iOS)Enterprise messaging and collaboration (Exchange, Teams)Enterprise remote access (VDI and VPN)Application packaging and deploymentManage automated patching processesProvide expert technical advice across ICT platforms in governance and service management forumsDeliver Level 3 support for escalated complex technical issuesCollaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to ensure integration and complianceDevelop SOPs, technical documentation, and knowledge base resourcesSupport project planning and delivery for upgrades, migrations, and rolloutsMonitor system performance and proactively ensure reliability and scalabilityMentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiativesSelection CriteriaMax 5000 characters total in one-page pitch (individual responses not required)Essential CriteriaExperience/knowledge of Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise (M365 Pro Plus), including servicing, update channels, and M365 licensingExpert knowledge of Windows 11, Intune, and Group Policy configuration (including Advanced Group Policy Management)Experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM) / Mobile Access Management (MAM) through IntuneMECM (SCCM) and Intune skills including SOE creation/maintenance, application packaging, and patchingStrong experience in writing technical documentation including SOPs and design documentationDesirable CriteriaExperience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD)Experience with Australian Government IT Cyber Security processes including ISM, Essential 8, and ACSC hardening guides
