Role Overview
UMENCO is seeking an experienced Designer for a brand who is celebrated for its effortless tailoring, contemporary silhouette and considered approach to design.
This role is integral to the research, design and development of the brands ready-to-wear collections, with a focus on tailoring, outerwear, denim and shirting.
In addition to designing, the position will play a key leadership role in mentoring and guiding the brands product developers, ensuring collaboration and growth within the team.
Reporting to the Design Director, the Designer will be responsible for developing product ranges from concept through to production, ensuring alignment with the brand's creative vision.
This includes researching and identifying seasonal trends, fabrics and colour stories, creating original CADs and design packs and ensuring quality, sustainability and pricing guidelines are met.
The Designer will also involve working closely with Product Developers to manage the critical path, leading fit sessions and maintaining design integrity throughout the process.
Beyond product development, this role requires a strong analytical approach.
The Designer will review sales feedback and conduct SWOT assessments to continuously refine designs and contribute to wider business strategies.
A strong focus on innovation, craftsmanship and detail will be essential, as will the ability to balance commercial outcomes with creativity and design integrity.
A tertiary qualification in Fashion Design, three years proven experience, a deep understanding of global fashion markets, extensive technical knowledge, strong CAD skills and experience in denim design and development are essential.
