We are currently seeking a Customs Classifier Complier to join our team in Melbourne.
Key responsibilities
Classifying goods in accordance with the Harmonised System (HS) of the World Customs Organization (WCO)
Research and determine applicable import & export tariff classification codes
Understanding and interpreting legal notes, heading notes, and TCO's
Determine applicable incoterm, valuation data and methodology
Checking cargo arrival and reporting details
Validating shipping & commercial documents for integrity
Requesting missing/incomplete and/or additional information/documents required for custom clearance
Liaising with internal and external stakeholders regarding cargo arrival, cargo reporting, clearance documentation
Providing advice to customers on import & export regulations, tariffs, and other Customs & DAFF related matters
Import declaration compiling and data line entry
Pre-lodging declarations
Lodgement of documents requiring DAFF or IFIS clearance via COLS
Preparation of work instructions and other documents for in-house use
Assist Licenced Customs Brokers with alternate tasks
Skills and experience
Minimum 5 years working in international logistics in Australia
Minimum 3 years continuous classifier compiler experience and responsibilities
Thorough working knowledge of the Australian Customs Tariff, valuation methodologies, and Incoterms
Proficient with using CargoWise One
Pursuing a Customs Broker Licence is preferred
Time management and prioritising skills
