Financial AccountantLocation: Melbourne CBD (Hybrid flexibility)Contract: 6 monthsHourly Rate: $60 - $70 per hour + superStart Date: JuneRandstad is a preferred recruitment partner for a State Government organisation, currently seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to support their finance team during a critical period leading up to End of Financial Year (EOFY).
This role offers hybrid work flexibility and the benefits of contracting through Randstad, including weekly pay and exclusive contractor benefits.Key Responsibilities:Prepare and analyse financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.Manage general ledger entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis.Contribute to the month-end and year-end closing processes, including EOFY reporting requirements.Ensure compliance with relevant Australian Accounting Standards (AASBs) and public sector regulations.Assist with the processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll activities.Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to queries.Provide financial analysis and insights to support management decision-making.Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance.Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure accurate financial operations and reporting.About You:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.5–6 years' experience in a financial accounting role, ideally within the public or government sector.CPA or CA qualification highly regarded.Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards (AASBs) and financial regulations.Proficiency in financial systems, with Oracle experience highly regarded.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.Ability to manage competing priorities and meet critical deadlines, particularly during EOFY.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels.Why Join as a Randstad Contractor?
