**The Opportunity**:

- Lithgow City Council _has an exciting opportunity for a **Graduate Science and Technology Communicator **to join their team in Lithgow, NSW on a temporary 12 month term contract.

The Science and Technology Communicator will be part of a small and dynamic team delivering a pilot STEAM program to supplement existing STEAM teaching in local schools. The Communicator will play a pivotal role in communicating to students, parents, and industry the role that science and technology plays in the workforce.

This is an opportunity to implement an innovative approach to improving STEAM learning outcomes across the Lithgow local government area. Importantly, the Science and Technology Communicator will be a central part of a multi-disciplinary Lithgow Emerging Economy Plan (LEEP) Team with responsibility for managing the transition of one of the first carbon-dependent regional economies to net zero in New South Wales.

More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):

- Engage and liaise with primary and secondary school leadership across the Lithgow Local Government Area to develop, promote and implement a STEAM program
- Contribute to the integration of STEAM education and further education pathways between local primary and secondary schools, industry and further education providers
- Contribute to the selection of appropriate technology and equipment to support formal and informal STEAM teaching
- Maintain program facilities and equipment
- Instruct students and teachers in the proper and safe use of technology
- Conduct risk assessments and undertake other health and safety related duties

**About you**:

- A recognised qualification, or substantial completion of a recognised qualification, in a STEM related discipline
- Qualifications or experience in science communication
- A Working with Children Check or the ability to obtain one
- Demonstrated passion for education outcomes in a regional setting
- High level of written and verbal communication skills

- Between $74,608.49 and $85,604.73 per annum, commensurate with your skills, qualifications and experience
- Temporary 12 month term contract
- Full-time, 35 hours per week
