The Lansing School District serves over 10,000 PreK-12 students across 25 school buildings in the increasingly diverse urban community of Lansing, MI. In pursuit of this mission, we are hiring an ELA Elective Teacher for Attwood. This individual will ensure our 6-8 students receive world-class ELA instruction and experience throughout their time in the District. Our teachers must also work to build safe, nurturing classrooms where students can be themselves and work collaboratively towards common learning goals. Teachers will work alongside other teachers, parents, and students to ensure they are providing the best education experience to all students. This particular teacher will be able to teach anything related to ELA such as journalism, screenwriting, creative writing, etc.

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in any ELA related field
- Alignment with Lansing School District's mission and values

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate with secondary ELA endorsement (will be required to enroll in program if don't currently possess)
- Previous successful teaching experience in urban setting

**Responsibilities**:

- Demonstrate passion for and expertise of their content area
- Provide world-class instruction in their content area
- Use data to guide and effectively differentiate instruction
- Learn and grow by incorporating feedback from school leaders, colleagues, students, and professional development sessions
- Build relationships with students and parents to ensure a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment
- Other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission
