Responsibilities
The role involves creating and integrating high-quality 3D piping system models and 2D production outputs to enable manufacturing of complex mechanical and piping systems for the Hunter Class Frigates.
Officer Level (Entry Level – TAFE Graduate or less than 2 year experience)
Develop skills in creating piping layouts and isometric drawings under supervision.
Assist with system integration and spatial coordination in a 3D design environment.
Support the team in problem investigations and propose practical solutions.
Build technical competence by engaging with experienced designers and staying up to date with standards and technologies.
Intermediate Level (between 2 and 10 years of experience)
Produce accurate piping system models, fabrication drawings, and installation details in accordance with engineering and quality standards.
Ensure all deliverables meet project requirements for safety, accuracy, and constructability.
Collaborate with engineers, production, and other design disciplines to resolve integration challenges.
Contribute to design reviews, identify improvements, and apply lessons learned to future work.
About You
As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:
Demonstrated experience in the design and integration of piping systems in a 3D CAD environment.
Proven ability to produce fabrication, spool, and installation drawings for mechanical/piping systems.
Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, Siemens NX, REVIT, or similar).
Diploma of Engineering (Technical) or equivalent relevant industry experience
Strong communication skills to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities (e.g. design registers, reporting).
Desirable: Trade background or piping design experience in shipbuilding, oil & gas, or heavy industry.
