About the role
We are currently seeking a commercially astute and execution-focused leader to join our Specialty Mining Chemicals business and lead supply chain and logistics across Australia.
In this pivotal role, you will oversee the safe and efficient distribution of key chemical products, including sodium cyanide, to domestic and global markets, while driving transformation and operational excellence across warehousing, transport, and inventory control.
Reporting to the Global Head of Supply Chain for SMC, you will lead a high-performing team across Victoria and Queensland, working closely with internal and external customers to deliver safe, cost-effective, reliable logistics outcomes and high service standards.
As a key contributor to the SMC leadership team, you will oversee support functions service delivery, help shape supply chain strategy, and play a critical role in delivering long-term success for Orica's newest growth vertical.
This role will suit a senior supply chain professional with deep operational and logistics experience, strong commercial acumen, and a hands-on leadership style.
You will bring a collaborative mindset, a track record of delivering results in complex environments, and the ability to influence across functions and geographies.
What you will be doing
Lead warehouse and distribution teams at Deer Park (VIC) and Yarwun, Gladstone (QLD);
Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement across logistics and inventory control;
Manage road, rail, and shipping networks and coordinate export shipments;
Oversee service delivery from Procurement and Global Business Services teams;
Build strategic supplier partnerships and support contract negotiations;
Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and dangerous goods standards;
Lead and develop your team with a focus on succession planning and capability building.
What you will bring
A relevant tertiary qualification in logistics, supply chain, or business;
More than 10 years of experience in supply chain and logistics, ideally within chemicals or industrial sectors;
Strong working knowledge of SAP and dangerous goods regulations;
Proven ability to lead and develop teams across multiple locations;
A track record of managing complex operations and influencing across stakeholder groups;
Experience managing supplier relationships and delivering value through effective contract negotiation;
Strong commercial acumen and a collaborative mindset;
Excellent communication skills and a hands-on leadership style.
