**Role Description/Criteria**

**About the College**

As a Catholic School, Thomas Carr College aims to educate our students with an appreciation of the spiritual as well as the intellectual and physical aspects of their lives. We aim to work with our parents to produce young people of faith and character. We are a Catholic Co-educational College in Tarneit, west of Melbourne with 1180 students, serving the Parishes of St Peter the Apostle and St James the Apostle, located in Hoppers Crossing.

**About the role**

The Learning Support Officers major areas of responsibility are incorporated in those of a normal teaching role. The additional areas of responsibility are as follows
- Provide support to students with additional needs
- Assist with the College's response to the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) process
- Provide effective, accurate and comprehensive support for all aspects of Learning Diversity initiatives.
- Adhere to all Child Safety legislation and College requirements.
- Support the religious ethos of the College and possess the following are encouraged to apply
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of, and commitment, to Catholic education.
- Demonstrate an understanding and acceptance of the Thomas Carr College Mission Statement and the values that underpin it.
- Demonstrate evidence of working with students and staff in classrooms to support student learning outcomes
- Have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all members of the College community
- Demonstrate proficiency using computers
- Demonstrate an understanding of child safety and the appropriate obligations and behaviours when engaging with students
- Have a Certificate III or IV qualification in Educational Support or equivalent
- Have a current Working With Children Check and National Police Record History Check and is a suitable person to engage in child-connected work
- Have a current driver's licence
