**About the team**:
The Office of National Rail Industry Coordination (ONRIC) is responsible for implementing the Government's National Rail Manufacturing Plan commitment. To do this, ONRIC will lead a coordinated Commonwealth approach to support and grow domestic rail manufacturing capability.
ONRIC will deliver a number of initiatives including:
- A national audit of the adequacy, capacity and condition of passenger trains and develop priority plans for rail manufacturing.
- A National Rail Procurement and Manufacturing Strategy to harmonise and simplify rolling stock procurement across Australian jurisdictions and to enhance opportunities for local industry.
- Appointing a Rail Supplier Advocate to help small and medium-sized enterprises to market their products across state and territory borders and to identify and take advantage of export opportunities.
- Establishing a Rail Industry Innovation Council will to address research and development, skills and capability needs in the rail manufacturing sector.
ONRIC is part of Industry Growth Division (IGD) which is responsible for setting Australia's overarching industry policy and ensuring Australian industry is sustainable, resilient and growing to its full potential. IGD does this through policy and regulatory functions which influence business settings, build industry capability, manage economic risk and shocks, and support key sectors of the economy.

**What you will do**:
For **policy and stakeholder engagement** roles:
- Take responsibility for driving and managing projects and delivering high quality and timely outputs including ministerial and executive briefings, policy development and analysis.
- Develop cooperative working relationships with a variety of stakeholders including the Executive, ministerial advisors, other government agencies, and industry. Experience working collaboratively with state and territory government officials would be highly regarded.
- Support the Manager and Divisional Executive, and contribute to shaping strategic thinking and direction for the team.
- Provide leadership, guidance and mentoring for junior staff.
For **governance and operations** roles:
- Lead appointment processes for the Rail Supplier Advocate and the Rail Industry Innovation Council, including ministerial and administrative processes.
- Provide secretariat support and drive forward planning for the Rail Industry Innovation Council.
- Build and sustain a corporate coordination function within ONRIC, with responsibility for providing advice and support to the Executive Director of ONRIC and the Rail Supplier Advocate.
- Develop cooperative working relationships with a variety of stakeholders including departmental Executive, other government agencies, and industry.
- Support the Manager and Divisional Executive, and contribute to shape strategic thinking and direction for the team.
- Provide leadership, guidance and mentoring for junior staff.
