
Developmental Disability Mental Health Psychiatrist

Role Summary:
We are seeking a part-time psychiatrist to join our developmental disability mental health team. The successful applicant will provide assessment and consultation services to patients aged 14 and above with intellectual disabilities, including autism, FASD, Down Syndrome, and mental health needs.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced psychiatrist to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team, including nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals. The role will involve providing telehealth outreach as needed, designing and running modified cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) groups for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health needs.
The successful candidate will be expected to attend clinical team meetings and provide reports on their work. On-call responsibility for Island Health psychiatry services is also mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide assessment and consultation services to patients aged 14 and above with intellectual disabilities.
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care services.
Design and run modified CBT and DBT groups for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health needs.
Attend clinical team meetings and provide reports on work completed.
On-call responsibility for Island Health psychiatry services.
Qualifications and Skills:
Masters or Doctoral degree in Psychiatry.
Experience working with patients with intellectual disabilities and mental health needs.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
