The City of Karratha is seeking a skilled and forward-thinking Finance Business Partner / Accountant to join our Financial Services team. This is not your traditional accounting role — we're looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of financial strategy, systems innovation, and business improvement.
What You'll Do
As a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, you'll:
Deliver high-level financial analysis and insights that drive strategic planning.
Build interactive dashboards and visual reporting tools to inform business decisions.
Partner with directorates to optimise budget outcomes and guide long-term financial planning.
Play a hands-on role in the development, testing, and implementation of ERP systems.
Lead initiatives to enhance financial processes, reporting systems, and work practices.
Train and support colleagues and Councillors in financial management and corporate systems.
What You Bring
CPA or CA membership and tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Business.
At least 5 years' experience in a similar role, ideally within a complex or government environment.
Strong knowledge of the Local Government Act and Australian Accounting Standards.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills — you can translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills, plus experience with BI tools and ERP systems.
A strategic mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
