**Our Transition**

EnergyAustralia is actively transitioning its portfolio - we are doing not just talking. In the last year we have made substantial investment commitments across utility storage (lithium ion and pumped hydro) and flexible gas/hydrogen generation, all of which will support a high renewable's grid.

We are recruiting for a Technical Officer (Scientific) to join our supportive team at the Yallourn Power Station, this is a large, coal-fired power station in the Latrobe Valley.

**The role.**

Reporting to the Chemical Team Leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the chemical plant. Your role will see you ensure the production of high quality water supplies under all plant design operational conditions, and to monitor the chemical conditions in the boiler and other systems to meet the needs of the Power Station.

The Yallourn Chemical Team's wide-ranging responsibilities requires multi skilled talent being available on a 24/7 basis. This post requires a proactive and committed team member who can provide appropriate support to the team's Chemical Team Leader and Chemical Specialists.

**You will be responsible for**
- Managing the regeneration of the Stations Condensate Polishing Plant's (CPP) resins to ensure target service run times and cycle chemistry guidelines are met
- Providing an Authorised Issuing Officer role for chemical plant such that it can be safely isolated for maintenance
- Ensuring online chemical instrumentation is maintained and calibrated to suppliers' recommendations
- Fault finding & where practical rectifying, or, working with others internal & external to the business, to resolve any issues
- Providing a Dangerous Goods/hazardous materials support role to the EnergyAustralia Dangerous Goods Officer

**Qualifications, Skills and Experience**
- Certificate of Technology (Science) or qualification in Chemistry (essential)
- Similar experience gained in a Power Station or Heavy Industry environment (essential)
- Ability to identify risks and plant defects
- Thorough understanding of Workplace Health and Safety practices and principles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexible to work a rotating roster, including weekends
- Please note our Yallourn plant operates 24/7 and due to the nature of this role we are seeking someone who lives in 30 minutes vicinity of the plant
