We are seeking a highly skilled Network Assessment Specialist to join the Information and Technology Directorate Transition Project team. In this role, you will collaborate with the Transition Project Manager, Project Enterprise Architect, and other project resources to conduct comprehensive network assessments and provide valuable insights for the design and improvement of the IT infrastructure. Your assessments will contribute to the establishment of best practice ICT services within the organisation, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and efficiency.
As a Network Assessment Specialist, your key responsibilities will include:
- Developing a detailed plan for network assessments, outlining all necessary activities to be undertaken.
- Conducting thorough assessments on the current network and hardware in use across designated locations, evaluating performance, reliability, and usage trends.
- Providing diagnostics on peak times and identifying any performance or reliability issues.
- Producing comprehensive assessment reports, including an evaluation of findings against acceptable baselines.
- Identifying inefficiencies in network or hardware provisioning and configuration and suggesting tactical and strategic improvements.
- Occasionally travelling to regional locations for short periods to perform assessments.
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Experience in designing, implementing, and managing corporate networks and hardware/devices.
- Proven expertise in assessing or auditing networks, conducting network risk assessments, and identifying bandwidth bottlenecks and resource utilisation.
- Familiarity with network tools and the ability to conduct assessments in secure environments.
- Strong networking skills, including knowledge of DNS, TCP/IP, HTTPO, CDN, and VPN.
- Experience in assessing hardware and software to identify performance issues.
- Ability to produce detailed network and hardware assessment reports, including comprehensive inventories of current network infrastructure and hardware/devices.
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
- Experience in working with virtual and shared teams of resources.
- Highly developed written skills for documentation, communications, and presentations.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Honesty and transparency in all communications and interactions.
