For Wild Places (FWP) is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to mobilise the trail running and wider outdoor community to take action for wild places. The Role
For Wild Places is seeking a new Treasurer to join our Board and support our work to build our organisational capacity to use sports activism to protect wild places under threat. This is a voluntary, governance-level role suited to someone with a strong background in financial oversight and reporting.
As Treasurer, you will play a key role in ensuring the Board is empowered to govern the financial affairs of the organisation. You'll work closely with the Chair, CEO, and Finance and Risk Subcommittee to provide strategic advice and support, including reviewing reports, overseeing risk, and helping ensure the integrity of our financial systems and compliance.
What we're looking for
We're seeking someone with:
Demonstrated experience in financial oversight and reporting, ideally in the not-for-profit sector
CPA or CA status (or equivalent level of experience)
Understanding of DGR-specific obligations and relevant tax requirements
Familiarity with funding agreements, acquittals and grants processes.
Experience serving on boards or in governance roles is helpful, but not essential. We welcome expressions of interest from people with lived experience of injustice and from diverse cultural, economic and professional backgrounds.
Time Commitments & Structure
The Board meets monthly via video call, with one in-person strategy day per year. The Treasurer also participates in the Finance and Risk Subcommittee and supports budget preparation, audit readiness and compliance review in partnership with the CEO.
A two-year term (minimum)
On average 10 hours per month, including board and committee preparation and meetings, and occasional important events
Active participation in board meetings, Board sub-committees, and important events
