**About the role**
- This position is responsible for the nutrition management of renal patients across all areas of the Western Health renal service. You will be working within a team of renal dietitians to provide care to:

- Acute inpatients under the nephrology unit (and some other acute inpatient units as required eg. Acute Aged Care, General medical units, Respiratory).
- Acute start dialysis patients
- Patients receiving haemodialysis in the Western Health chronic units (Sunshine, Sunbury, Williamstown)
- Patients supported by the home therapies unit for home based dialysis (haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis)
- Renal outpatients (CKD, supportive care, transplant, dialysis)

**Key responsibilities**:

- As part of a team of renal dietitians, you will rotate through different parts of the renal service and have a chance to experience different aspects of the renal nutrition service. This role will include significant time in chronic dialysis units and outpatients (phone/face to face) as well as an acute inpatient workload.
- You will also have a chance to be involved in the nutrition education of nursing and medical staff, development of renal related resources, quality improvement/research activities, and be a support for other dietitians in the area of renal nutrition. You will also be supported with regular upskilling in renal nutrition for yourself.
- In addition to the renal service, you will be required to assist with other acute inpatient areas at Sunshine Hospital and supervise students as part of your role.
- You will be primarily based at Sunshine Hospital, but as this is a team workload and rotational role with other renal dietitians, you will be required to work at Williamstown and Sunbury dialysis units for periods of time as needed. Western Health's renal department is very supportive of dietitians working within their service and includes dietitians in their professional development and multi-disciplinary working. As a growing health service in the western suburbs of Melbourne, there are opportunities for new services and new ways of working.

**About you**:

- Must have suitable clinical experience. This role is **not** suitable for new graduates.
- Have had experience in managing renal patients. Highly desirable to have experience managing renal patients in a variety of settings such as acute, chronic dialysis units, home therapies, outpatients.
- Have experience working in an acute hospital.
- Require good organisation, prioritisation and time management skills.
- Relish a busy workload juggling several competing demands.
