ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious
Assistant Dockmaster
to join our team at a busy and growing shipyard. Reporting directly to the Dockmaster, you will assist in the day-to-day operations, ensuring the safe berthing, docking, undocking, and movement of vessels within the facility.
Facilities include both a 160 Tonne marine travel lift and a 400 Tonne Travel lift.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with docking and undocking of vessels, including line handling and mooring operations;
Support the Dockmaster in coordinating schedules, work scopes, and crew activities;
Operate and maintain plant equipment;
Maintain Yard & hard stand bays;
Liaise with ship crews, contractors, and internal departments as needed;
Required Qualifications & Experience:
High Risk Work Licence
– Forklift (LF), EWP, or Crane tickets – Desirable
Proven experience in marine, shipyard, or dockside operations
Sound understanding of lifting, slinging, and rigging practices
Ability to read and interpret lifting plans and conduct pre-lift assessments
Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
Physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
