Job Summary:

The Assistant Dockmaster plays a critical safety-conscious role at our busy and growing shipyard, reporting directly to the Dockmaster. This position is responsible for assisting in day-to-day operations, ensuring the safe berthing, docking, undocking, and movement of vessels within the facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with docking and undocking of vessels, including line handling and mooring operations;
  • Support the Dockmaster in coordinating schedules, work scopes, and crew activities;
  • Operate and maintain plant equipment;
  • Maintain Yard & hard stand bays;
  • Liaise with ship crews, contractors, and internal departments as needed;

This role requires a strong commitment to workplace health and safety, excellent communication and teamwork skills, and the ability to read and interpret lifting plans and conduct pre-lift assessments.

Requirements:
  • A High Risk Work Licence (Forklift, EWP or Crane) is desirable but not essential;
  • Strong knowledge of safety procedures and protocols;
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills;
