THE ROLE
The Principal Project Officer, Children and Families Support will play a significant role in advancing the Children and Families reform agenda, which seeks to shift the way government, community services and communities work together to deliver more integrated services that meet the needs of vulnerable children and families.
Working effectively and collaboratively with relevant departmental and service partners, the position will lead key family service policy reform and priority projects. A key focus of the role will be managing the scoping of family services requirements to inform the development of future client and case management systems.
A critical component of the position is to drive project management oversight of policy design, budget implementation, reporting and risk management.
More broadly, the position contributes to the strategic direction, work priorities and complex system and service projects and policy development within the broader Children and Families Support and Safeguarding branch.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE

- Manage and oversee the full life cycle of projects to meet departmental objectives including:
(a) undertaking research, analysis and implementation of projects based on defined outcomes and outputs
(b) managing projects or sub-projects and being accountable for the successful delivery and completion of the projects/sub-projects within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters
(c) monitoring and evaluating projects to ensure departmental objectives are met.

- Where responsible for overseeing, monitoring or delivering projects, ensure they are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation and government regulations and guidelines.
- Provide leadership, guidance and authoritative advice to internal and external stakeholders and prepare and present detailed, comprehensive reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet and agency submissions on complex matters.
