Position: Cook Position Type: Full-Time Salary: $76,515 plus superannuation per annumLocation: Bundall QLD 4217Our client is seeking a skilled Cook to join their food and wine bar located in Bundall, Queensland.
Tasks required include:Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs and ordering food supplies;Preparation and cooking full restaurant menu;Preparation and cooking food for functions;Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation;Discussing food preparation issues with chefs and owners;Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality;Washing, peeling, cutting & seeding fruits & vegetables to prepare them for consumption;Weighing, measuring & mixing ingredients according to recipes & personal judgment;Preparing and cooking food;Seasoning & cooking food according to recipes & personal judgment;Turning & stirring foods to ensure even cooking;Observing & testing foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently;Portioning, arranging & garnishing foods before passing to Front of House staff for service;Estimate food requirements and plan seasonal menus with management;Store foods in temperature controlled facilities;Minimise food wastage and maintaining excellent hygiene standards;Storing food in temperature controlled facilities;Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements;Adhering to guidelines for keeping utensils, food equipment, storage chambers, and cooking areas clean;Constantly checking the freshness and quality of ingredients to prevent contamination and food-related illness;Follow daily, weekly and monthly Maintenance Schedule for all equipment in the Kitchen.Requirements:Certificate III including at least two (2) years of on-the-job training, or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery Diploma of Hospitality Management would be highly regardedAt least three (3) years of relevant experience Proven experience as a Cook or in a similar kitchen role, preferably in a food and wine bar or fine dining environmentStrong attention to detail and passion for delivering high-quality foodAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environmentFlexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as needed.
