Overview
The Y Queensland stands together with all people regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or belief. We are recruiting an Educational Leader to join our team at YMCA Warrigal Road Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) in Eight Mile Plains. The role leads the development and implementation of the education program to promote children's well-being, development and learning, helping children develop values, attitudes and ways of living and learning. This is achieved by providing a high quality of care, activities and educational elements, managing and promoting a team environment, and working within the YMCA of Brisbane Long Day Care services' philosophy, policies and procedures. This is a casual position.
What will my time look like?
Responsibilities include:
Lead the development and implementation of the educational program and assessment with the support of Assistant Coordinator/Coordinator
Ensure children's learning informs the design of the educational program, and Educators facilitate and extend each child's learning and development
Liaise effectively with parents, staff and internal and external stakeholders
Make recommendations for improvements to educators' educational programs and practices
Mentor and support educators' understanding of the educational program and practice, including reflection on effectiveness of programs, interactions, intentional teaching and other strategies
Ensure compliance with policy
Undertake administrative requirements
Work collaboratively with families and the school community
Am I a good match?
Qualifications and experience required:
Diploma in Children's Services or equivalent and demonstrated experience in Early Childhood Education
Sound experience in an Early Childhood Education and Care setting
Comprehensive working knowledge of the approved learning framework
Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others
Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Comprehensive working knowledge of child development, attachment, learning
Understanding of evidence-based best practice approaches to teaching and learning
Working knowledge of leadership theory and use of a range of leadership styles
Well-developed critical thinking skills, including the ability to analyse and challenge conventional practice and ideas
Current First Aid and CPR Certification
Currently possess, or be willing to obtain, Blue Card

About The Service
YMCA Upper Mt Gravatt Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) is located in the heart of the community with convenient access to public transport and car parking. Our service offers Before School Care, After School Care, and Vacation Care for up to 105 children between 6:30am and 6:00pm. We prioritise the well-being, education and happiness of our children. Our service philosophy prioritises community and belonging, children's agency and the importance of spontaneous, multi-age play in middle childhood, with planned and spontaneous play experiences for children.
