Workfast is looking for a hands-on and reliable Mechanical Trade Assistant/ Apprentice Mechanical Fitter to join the workshop team of a leading engineering company in Tomago, NSW.

Pay Rate:
$37.50 per hour + Overtime + Super
Hours:
Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:30pm
Start Date:
ASAP
This is a long-established and highly respected service and maintenance provider to freight rail rolling stock operators, known for flexibility and quality workmanship. This is a practical, shop floor-based role offering consistent full-time hours and the potential to transition into a permanent position. Full on-the-job training will be provided.
What You'll Be Doing
CNC machine operating
Loading and unloading of wheelsets
Arrival inspections of wheels and axles
Washing wheelsets
Bearing dismount
Assisting with bearing seal breakdown and bearing buffing
General housekeeping and cleaning duties
Supporting mechanical fitters and other trades as required
Using hand, air, and power tools
Maintaining a safe and organised workshop environment
About You
Experience working in a manufacturing or workshop environment
Competency with hand, air, and power tools
Physically fit and able to handle manual tasks
Safety-conscious and reliable
Strong team player with good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Forklift licence and overhead crane experience highly advantageous
Qualifications related to mechanical fitting or engineering preferred
Currently enrolled in or ready to commence a Mechanical Fitter apprenticeship (beneficial but not essential)
What You Get
$37.50 per hour + super + overtime
Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:30pm
