Exciting new opportunity for a HSE Manager to join our Transport division supporting a major roads project
About the Role
Works to revitalise one of Melbourne's busiest transport links, the 3.4km Burnley Tunnel have commenced. In an Australian-first, the Burnley Tunnel Upgrade Project will see state-of-the-art pacemaker lighting installed to act as visual cues to help drivers maintain a consistent speed, as well as transforming the lighting with brighter, more energy efficient LEDs.
The ITS HSE Manager will be responsible to provide specialist HSEQ advice and support to the project in the development, implementation, measuring & evaluation and reporting on compliance with HSEQ Management Systems.
Nature of position: 12 Month Maximum Term, Full Time
Location: Collins Street, Melbourne office - Site visits to Burnley Tunnel
Reporting Line: Project Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Provide key support in the development, implementation and ongoing monitoring of HSE policies, management plan and associated procedures
- Actively implement all HSE initiatives
- Conduct regular routine HSE audits programs and inspections
- Complete incident / injury investigations as required
- Assist in monitoring and ensuring organisational legislative and contractual compliance in relation to health, safety and environmental requirements and workplace practices
- Ensure that HSE risks related to operation and maintenance activities whether carried out by employees or contractors are properly managed
- Ensure all safety processes and procedures are adhered to.
- Oversee and participate in inductions, training, etc.
- Monitor and review contractor safety procedures.
- Promote use of Job Pre-Start Checks / SWMS tools via inductions, field visits & reviews.
- Oversee HSEQ incident investigation to meet internal and regulatory timeframes.
- Attend night work from time to time
This opportunity will suit a highly motivated and outcome driven individual who has a passion for delivering positive client outcomes, and a knack for effective stakeholder engagement.
About You
To be successful in this role, you have proven experience in engaging and liaising with front line staff & supervisors / managers, senior managers, industry specialists, clients and regulatory authorities. You will also demonstrate and possess the following:
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role
- Current driver's licence
- Tertiary OH&S qualifications
- High level interpersonal and communication - persuading and influencing - skills
- Experience in problem solving and dealing with complex issues
