At **Lives Lived Well **, we've been treating and supporting people whose lives are affected by alcohol and other drugs for over 50 years. We also support people with mental health and gambling concerns and those transitioning from correctional centres. We're growing fast and building a reputation as a trusted, innovative provider, focused on clinical excellenceand we'd love you to be part of it.
If you have compassion, the ability to work without judgment and share our belief in recovery, then join us and open up your career in human services.
The Watershed provides a withdrawal management program, residential rehabilitation, non-residential day program and long-term transitional program in the Wollongong region. This is a unique facility, located in the 'burbs'. It has a homely, welcoming feeling, ideal to support our clients on their recovery journey.
**Your opportunity**
Working as a Casual Support Worker at our Watershed residential alcohol and drug treatment centre, you'll provide support and supervision to clients undertaking the six-week treatment program.
**_What does this mean? _**
Well, you'll be called on to work a variety of shifts, so you must be flexible with your availability. This includes day, afternoon, evening and weekend work as well as 'sleepover' shifts overnight. You'll help to keep our clients emotionally safe while following the routine of the program with the clients. You'll assist with medications, support the Treatment Facilitators running psychoeducational groups and well as be required to run some groups, and provide general help and support to clients throughout the day.
This is a role that has a big impact. You'll witness the hard work our clients put in to change their lives for the better,. You'll support them in times of crisis or frustration - by helping them utilise the techniques they've been taught, support the learnings and understanding from the therapeutic programs and learning life skills. All while being supported and guided by a team of passionate clients focussed staff who really care. This team is led by an empowering and supportive manager who backs the team, enabling them to grow and learn.
**You'll know that you're leaving a positive wake when**:
- You're able to manage the structured activities of the program
- You've built positive relationships with your clients, enabling them to stick to the program and make positive change in their lives.
- You're able to navigate the challenges of new situations, creating solutions and adapting on the spot.
**What you'll bring**
As this is a casual role, we can't always guarantee the number of shifts you might get, so you'll need to be comfortable being called in as needed.
In terms of the role itself, not only is it about your technical skills, it's about who you are as a person and what you bring:
- You've completed tertiary qualifications in Alcohol and Other Drugs or related discipline.
- You come with residential experience, not necessarily specific to AOD.
- You'll need to know how to set and maintain good boundaries - with clients, colleagues and yourself. What we do isn't always easy, so taking care of yourself is most important
- You'll be comfortable working to a structure, but have the capacity to be flexible and navigate the unexpected.
- You'll be able to think on your feet, problem solve and handle pressure.
- You're passionate about helping people, and have a genuine desire to support people in making a positive difference to their lives.
- You'll be reliable, resilient, persistent and non-judgmental.
And importantly, you'll live and breathe our values, which means:
- You are humble, human and full of hope.
- You show up and share.
- You ask: Why not? And what's next?
- You leave a positive wake.
We believe that, through these values, we do our best work - for each other, for clients, and for the communities we work in. And it's a promise we make to you about the kind of experience you will have working for us.
**Why work for Lives Lived Well?**
It's about people, purpose, impact and growth.
We think you'll love working with our talented people across services that are as diverse as the communities we work in. We've grown significantly, with no plans of slowing down.giving you a real opportunity to go further
**At Lives Lived Well, you can**:
- Grow as a person and as a professional, extending your knowledge and skills beyond the norm.
- Be trusted with autonomy in a supportive, respectful environment.
- Make a lasting difference - on clients, the community and a team that cares as much as you.
But it's more than that.
You'll join a curious team that thinks differently and seeks new ways. We look to the evidence. We explore new ideas. And when we reach "better", we ask, "What's next?" Which means you'll need to be comfortable with change - you'll enjoy variety, the agility, and the opportun
