People Relations Manager

Defence Housing Australia is currently looking for the next Assistant Director in Human Resources.

The People Relations Manager sits within the HR Operations Team of DHA with carriage of a host of functions relating to case management, workplace relations, wellbeing and HR policy.
The right person for this role will have a sound understanding of both traditional and contemporary HR practices and be committed to provide best practice people focused solutions for an amazing organisation.
You will have autonomy in your role and be motivated to drive innovation across the HR service offering.
You will be able to think on your feet and use your judgement to make practical and sensible decisions when facing a challenging situation.
DHA is a smaller sized agency and offers a unique ability to design and deliver progressive and ambitious projects to support its people in all locations across the country.

Level: EL 1
Salary Range: $122,963 to $150,065 per annum plus 15.4% superannuation
Location: Head Office - Gungahlin
About us
DHA was established in 1988 following passage of the Defence Housing Australia Act 1987 (DHA Act) to provide adequate and suitable housing for, and housing related services to, members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and their families.
We remain committed to our purpose of providing housing, and housing related services, to ADF members and their families to support Defence's operational needs.
DHA manages an expanding portfolio of housing solutions and provides housing for over 17,200 ADF members and their families and administers rent allowance for more than 16,000 ADF members and their families in private rental accommodation.
DHA provides housing related services advising on eligibility, providing posting support, and managing bookings and allocation services for all DHA provisioned housing and on-base accommodation to approximately 60,000 ADF members.

About your team
Human Resources are responsible for delivering high-quality human resource outcomes across DHA from strategy and policy development through to implementation and service delivery.
The Human Resources team works with a broad cross section of stakeholders both within DHA and externally.
Your responsibilities will include the further development of these relationships and advocating on HR and people matters and initiatives.
As an HR professional you will bring a depth of experience and knowledge on HR matters along with a willingness to grow the team and your own capability, reputation and success.
The work environment is dynamic, with a number of projects and activities being undertaken at the same time.
About the role
The People Relations Manager leads a small team of professionals to deliver responsive employee relations services and initiatives that contribute to a healthy and high performing workplace.
This role is accountable for the uplift, maintenance and governance of employee relations and workplace wellbeing frameworks, ensuring a proactive approach to risk management in alignment with contemporary practices.
The People Relations Manager operates with a high degree of autonomy, and in close partnership with stakeholders across DHA.
