**About the team**:
The Chief Finance Officer's Division is made up of three branches. They are:

- Financial Management
- External Budgets and Procurement Financial and Shared Services**The Internal Budgets team **sit within the Financial Management Branch.

The branch provides a range of financial and operational services that enable the department to deliver its strategic objectives in a professional and cost-effective manner.
- Is highly motivated with a strong focus on building high performing teams and achieving outcomes.
- Has strong stakeholder management and communications skills.
- Has highly developed analytical skills, with the demonstrated ability to be solutions focussed, and to provide balanced analysis and advice.
- Can demonstrate experience in reforming processes for day-to-day workflows to improve efficiency and delivery of team outputs. Demonstrated experience with strategic management accounting in a government or commercial environment.
- Is experienced with the Australian Government's resource management framework and budget process is desirable.
- Can demonstrate experience in using a financial management information system (for example, TechOne).
- Has intermediate to advanced knowledge of the Microsoft suite of products (particularly Excel and TM1).
- Possesses a bachelor's degree (or higher) in commerce, accounting, finance, business or a related field, or is progressing toward a relevant qualification.

**What you will do**:
The Assistant Manager, Internal Budgets will manage the delivery of effective, responsive and consistent financial services to the department to support informed decision making.

Key functions of the role include:

- Prepare financial management and capital reporting and quality analysis for governance committees, senior management and key stakeholders. Strong written skills are essential to this duty.
- Build relationships and work collaboratively across the department to develop, maintain and monitor detailed operational and capital budgets.
- Establish and maintain internal controls that will withstand the scrutiny of internal and external audit. Ensure satisfactory resolution of any audit findings or recommendations relating to budget management, reporting and controls.
- Maintain compliant, effective and efficient budget and reporting operations to ensure delivery of best practice services to all stakeholders.
- Represent the department at internal meetings and working groups.
- Supervise staff in delivering professional, high quality, timely and customer focussed financial services in accordance with the Service Offer.
- Participate and contribute to process improvement activities to enable consistencies and efficiencies to be achieved across the spectrum of corporate services provided to divisions.
- Delivery of other financial services as directed.
