We're seeking an experienced Application Project Manager to oversee the development and enhancement of a nationally significant environmental modelling system.Start Date: Monday, 22 September 2025Contract Duration: 12 months (with up to 2 x 12-month extensions)Location: ACT, NT, SA, TAS, VIC, WAWork Arrangement: Hybrid (minimum 40% in-office, flexible remote options available)Security Clearance: BaselineHours: Up to 40 hours per weekLevel: EL1 equivalentAbout the RoleYou'll lead a diverse team of developers, scientists, geospatial experts, and IT professionals to modernise a complex software suite used to estimate greenhouse gas emissions from Australia's land sector.
This system plays a vital role in national carbon accounting and environmental reporting.Your responsibilities will include:Managing multi-disciplinary IT project teams across remote and in-office settingsLeading development and enhancement of internally and externally facing applicationsTranslating business requirements into actionable software improvementsOverseeing delivery schedules, DevOps workflows, and technical issue resolutionConducting planning and performance reviews for development staffManaging budgets, procurement, and risk mitigation strategiesRepresenting project needs within enterprise IT governance frameworksCollaborating with ICT teams to maintain and evolve cloud-based platformsContributing to strategic planning and funding proposalsKey Skills & ExperienceEssential Criteria:Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary IT teams (30%)Ability to perform under pressure and meet strict deadlines (20%)Experience working within enterprise-wide systems and architectures (20%)Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills (15%)Ability to translate technical challenges into executive-level insights (15%)Desirable Criteria:Experience with geospatial data (e.g., complex 3D arrays) in applications (50%)Experience modernising legacy applications to cloud environments (50%)Technical BackgroundCandidates should hold a degree or diploma in ICT, data science, or a scientific discipline (e.g., statistics, GIS, remote sensing), or demonstrate equivalent professional experience in spatial or data-focused roles.About the TeamJoin a dynamic Modelling and Geospatial team responsible for developing and maintaining Australia's Full Carbon Accounting Model (FullCAM).
