**About this opportunity**

The General Manager HSE reports to the Executive General Manager Packaging Australia and is responsible for enabling the EHS function across the division nationally. Managing the creation of effective health, safety, injury management practices through creation and promotion of a strong safety leadership culture across 30 sites and engaging approximately 1100 team members.

This is a highly collaborative and visible role key to the successful operations of our Packaging Division. Working as part of the divisional leadership team and supported by group functions the GM HSE is expected to provide a connection between the Sites, Divisional and Group level activities and will require championing and monitoring implementation of the Group WHSE System (Policy, Procedures and Tools).

**Your key responsibilities will be to**:

- Contribute to and enable Pacts HSE strategy underpinned by our values., Safety First.
- Partner the business to create inspiring and visible safety leadership at all levels, integrating safety and wellbeing with PPA's Leadership Framework
- Build capability and empower people to own and improve safety and wellbeing in the business.
- Facilitate compliance with relevant Health & Safety and Injury Management legislation and standards.
- Develop the Safety skill-base in the division through upgrading current bench strength and ongoing mentoring & development
- Influence for change and alignment in creating the continuous improvement roadmap for the PPA division.

**Your skills and experience**
- Significant experience and measurable success as a Senior Manager in a matrix structured, process driven operating environment
- Demonstrated experience working with both green and brownfields operations with high consideration of cultural and change management levers
- Superior coaching and mentoring skills and a proven record of identifying/developing talent across dispersed geography
- Previous experience in developing, implementing, monitoring and auditing Safety or Environmental Management Systems.
- Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal based on data and across varied audiences.
- Ideally experience in manufacturing, chemical or heavy industry.

**Qualifications**:

- Degree qualified in Occupational Health & Safety or similar field
- Senior experience leading a team in a Safety and Environmental Manager position
