Join a dynamic leadership role where you'll drive complex engineering projects, lead high-performing multi-disciplinary teams, and shape strategic transformation in a technically rich environment.
About the Company
SA Water is a successful, modern water utility wholly owned by the Government of South Australia. We employ more than 1,700 people across a broad range of disciplines who operate more than $14 billion worth of infrastructure to deliver essential water and sewerage services to more than 1.8 million South Australians.
We operate in a geographically and climatically diverse service area, with sites and locations from Ceduna through to Port Augusta, the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands, across to the Riverland, down to Mount Gambier, and most places in between.
Our strength and expertise have been shaped by our history. For more than 165 years, South Australians have depended on us to innovate and deliver efficient and sustainable water services. With nationally and internationally recognised industry expertise, we're focused on understanding and meeting our customers' expectations.
As well as safely delivering smart and reliable services for our customers of today, we innovate to shape the water solutions of the future that will support thriving economies and healthy communities.
We are driven by our values; we value our people, we do work that matters, we keep it real, we know that our work has impact, and we are future focussed. Staying true to our values ensures that we consistently deliver positive outcomes for all South Australians.
About the Sustainable Infrastructure Group
The Sustainable Infrastructure group is dedicated to maximising value for customers and the community by developing innovative and optimised infrastructure plans, efficiently managing their diary, and overseeing the planning, construction, delivery, and maintenance of water and sewerage assets across the state and business. The Engineering business unit within the Sustainable Infrastructure group is accountable to engineer sustainable outcomes and synthesises value for its partners and community.
About the job
Lead and inspire SA Water's Engineering Delivery Services team to deliver high-quality engineering outcomes across project controls and commercial risk management for our capital works program.

Build and lead a high-performing team
- provide clear direction, coaching and support to enable staff to deliver safely, effectively, and to their full potential.
Champion safety first
- embed a strong safety culture across all engineering activities, ensuring compliance with WHS obligations, standards, and regulations.
Develop and maintain engineering capability
- oversee project planning and delivery, ensuring technical excellence, sustainable design, and fit-for-purpose outcomes.
Deliver customer-focused outcomes
- work closely with business partners and stakeholders to provide timely, cost-effective and value-adding engineering solutions.
Foster collaboration and culture
- promote teamwork, innovation and knowledge sharing within Engineering and across the wider organisation.
Ensure sound governance and quality
- maintain robust processes, standards and KPIs that deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality project outcomes.
Drive continuous improvement and innovation
- identify opportunities to enhance service delivery, leverage emerging technologies and adopt industry best practice.
Your success in this role will come from:
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or a related discipline.
Proven track record in project management, specifically within engineering-focused initiatives.
Extensive experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering design teams across capital programs/projects.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including navigating challenges, fostering collaboration, and driving strategic transformation.
Strong background in managing external consultants and contractors to deliver project outcomes.
In-depth understanding of engineering procedures and practices, with a focus on managing technical risk in large-scale engineering environments.
