Job location Thomas Embling Hospital, located in Fairfield just 15 minutes north of the Melbourne city centre.
Due to our announced expansion, we have a need for experienced, like-minded professionals to join our team.
Thomas Embling Hospital is a secure mental health hospital providing acute care, rehabilitation, and continuing care programs, with 134 beds.
The planned expansion starting in 2024 will include a dedicated Women's service and an additional medium secure men's facility.

About the Role: Multiple casual positions are available working with the Clinical Support Team.
The role of Clinical Support Assistant (CSA) is to support staff in maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment, with emphasis on reducing occupational violence and aggression within Thomas Embling Hospital, under the supervision of a Registered Psychiatric Nurse 3 (RPN3).
The CSA is a member of the multidisciplinary team who will respond locally within a trauma-informed care framework to incidents, maintain safety, and engage in therapeutic programs with consumers.
The CSA will work rotating shifts including weekends and nights to meet service needs.
The position requires a focus on maintaining and promoting procedural, physical, and relational security.
Duties: Work under the supervision of the RPN3 in preventing, early intervention, and managing occupational violence and aggression.
Respond to critical incidents and support seclusion reviews.
Assist staff, visitors, and consumers confronted by hostility or aggression under the RPN3's direction.
Apply approved physical interventions only under supervision.
Contribute to security, risk assessments, and management planning by identifying and reporting issues.
Assist with daily activities and therapeutic programs under clinical guidance.
Maintain a safe environment, participate in security checks, and other delegated activities.
Complete environmental checks and document accordingly.
Test and maintain security devices like duress alarms and radios.
About You: Certificate III in Security Operations or Correctional Practice.
Physical and mental capacity to manage violence, demonstrated through a selection clinic and annual assessments.
Commitment to mental health recovery.
Ability to build positive relationships with consumers.
Understanding of mental health issues in acute and rehab settings.
Willingness to facilitate therapeutic activities with consumers.
