Capital Region Community Services (CRCS) is a non-profit organisation delivering a wide range of high quality, integrated and inclusive programs and services to support individuals, families, children, young people and seniors in Belconnen and wider Capital Region. CRCS works with community members, local organisations and businesses to develop responsive programs, services and activities that support self-determination, reduce social isolation and achieve positive outcomes. Our services include early education, youth engagement, aged care, transport and social supports, family support, therapeutic services, and community development. Strong relationships with government and other community services enhance CRCS's capacity to achieve our vision of an inclusive, connected community where everyone can thrive.
**About the role**:
We are seeking an experienced Community Development Officer (CDO) to support and empower individuals and families in Belconnen to develop community-led initiatives that reflect local needs and build capacity.
Working with community members, organisations, and CRCS teams, the CDO gathers and analyses data to identify trends, gaps, and needs. They design and support activities that builds connection and capacity, and promote inclusive, sustainable community development.
This role focuses on the Belconnen region, engaging with the wider community and specific groups based on location, demographics, interests or values.
Main duties and responsibilities
**Engagement and Collaboration**: Engage and consult with community members, instigate and maintain strong partnerships with agencies, organisation and community leaders.
**Research**: Utilise networks, employees and conversations with community to collect and analyse quality data to make informed recommendations and work plans.
**Promotion and Events**: Identify opportunities for promotion and publicity, working with Marketing and Communications to create engaging content. Organise and support events as required.
**Innovation, Review and Reporting**: Develop innovative initiatives that will be owned by the community. Communicate progress and outcomes with CRCS management, government and partners.
**Funding and Administration**: Research opportunities for funding to contribute to existing or develop new initiatives and manages own administration of position.
**Community and Interagency Relations**: Facilitates interagency collaboration through networks, and attendance of working groups and community events representing CRCS and Belconnen community.
You'll excel at tailoring your approach to different audiences and fostering strong partnerships to achieve meaningful outcomes.

**Qualifications and experience**:
**Essential**: Relevant tertiary qualification and 3+ years of demonstrated experience in community development. Experience in community consultation, planning, delivery and partnership development is essential, as is having a demonstrated understanding of and experience in community development, work planning and reporting.
**Desirable**: Knowledge of health promotion, social planning or related disciplines, Current first aid certificate, mental health first aid training. Knowledge of CRCS, the capital region and local community groups.
