**The Role**
The Consultant Anaesthetist delivers anaesthetic care across a spectrum of elective surgical specialties, collaborating within a multidisciplinary team. They offer services in inpatient, perioperative, and emergency settings.
The role involves
- Participating in a 24/7 roster, under the guidance of the Head of Unit Anaesthetics and Director of Medical Services.
- Providing emergency anaesthetic services for emergency surgeries, procedural expertise (e.g., Intubation and vascular access), and supporting Critical Care Unit (CCU) and resuscitation services, such as Medical Emergency Team (MET) and Code Blue calls.

**The Facility**
The facility serves around 12,000 acute inpatients and 17,000 Emergency Department patients annually. It offers a wide range of services including general surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, urology, ophthalmology, dentistry, endoscopy, gastroscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, and pediatric care. Additionally, it hosts visiting specialists in areas such as urology, vascular surgery, ear, nose, and throat (ENT), pediatric surgery, upper gastrointestinal (GI) surgery, and in vitro fertilization (IVF). Surgical services benefit from the support of both specialist and general practitioner anesthetists.
**The Requirements**
- Primary medical qualification registered or registrable with the Medical Board of Australia
- Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetics (or assessment by the college that the position holder is suitable for the position)
