The Governance Officer role is an opportunity to join our Governance team, within the Advocacy Partnerships and Community Engagement directorate.

The position coordinates, monitors and administers:

- Council's meeting cycle, including Council meetings, briefings, hearing committees and special and advisory committees.
- Council's legislative governance program, including having key responsibility for delegations and authorisations, the legislative compliance register and statutory registers, and place naming processes.

The position will provide advice and information in relation to Governance functions, particularly in relation to the requirements of the Local Government Act, and contribute to relevant policies, procedures and improvements.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

- Tertiary qualification in governance, law, communications, or business administration, and/or relevant experience in a relevant field.
- Experience in electronic document production, including well developed attention to detail, proofing and formatting skills.
- Experience working in a government environment.
- Experience in meeting/event management.

Please note, all roles within Council require:

- A satisfactory police check (organised by Council)
- Australian citizenship, permanent residency of Australia or be legally entitlement to work in Australia

This role is covered by the BRIMBANK CITY COUNCIL ENTERPRISE AGREEMENT 9, 2021 EA9.

- Essential : Ability to work in accordance with our values and behaviours.
- Essential : Tertiary qualification in governance, law, communications, or business administration, and/or relevant experience in a relevant field.
- Essential : Well-developed political acumen, including ability to assess issues and information and involve relevant parties in generating solutions or providing advice.
- Essential : Experience in electronic document production, including well developed attention to detail, proofing and formatting skills.
- Essential : Knowledge of mobile devices and software, and confidence with MS office suite.
- Essential : Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
