ODG liaises with the Minister's office, all divisions within DEPW, other government agencies and external stakeholders to:
- proactively identify and manage issues
- support the Director-General in meeting DEPW's strategic objectives
- ensure the effective functioning of the ODG
**Key responsibilities include**:
- Maintain the Director-General's diary, including the organisation of appointments in line with priorities established by the Director-General.
- Manage the receipt and reply to invitations and meeting requests that are received by the Director-General.
- Maintain effective business systems and processes including managing the information flow within ODG and across the department.
- Ensure briefing material for meetings and events are provided to the Director-General in a timely manner
- Coordinate and assist the Director-General and ODG with the resolution of human resource, financial and other business support tasks and issues.
- Actively participate in and support the development and implementation of departmental projects.
- Organise executive travel arrangements including planning itineraries, travel bookings, accommodation and preparation of expense claims.
- Establish innovative and efficient business practices and procedures to achieve better work practices and ensure policies, standards and procedures are adhered to.
- Prepare responses to Director-General requests as well as other relevant correspondence for consideration by the Director-General.
- Provide proactive professional advice, guidance and support to senior executives, officers within DEPW, and external stakeholders on matters relating to DEPW on behalf of the Director-General.
- Develop and maintain relationships across DEPW, within government and with the private sector and maintain effective communication between ODG and the Office of the Minister.
- Work closely with the ODG team to ensure that the Director-General is fully briefed and prepared for all meetings, committees and other diary appointments.
- Answer telephone calls and redirect enquiries.
- Undertake additional activities as directed by the Director-General and Director as required.
