About the Child Development Program/ServiceThe Child Development Service teams provide a family-centred, specialist health service for children who have complex developmental and behavioural concerns.
The teams provide multidisciplinary clinical services and consultancy/advice to support a comprehensive understanding of the child's developmental profile and how this relates to their functioning and participation in everyday life.
Teams use a strengths-based, partnership approach to enable families, key stakeholders and community providers to best support the child's optimal development, health and wellbeing across the life course.
Teams also contribute to education and training, advocacy and development of professional competence and standards in the field of developmental paediatrics.
Teams include a variety of health professionals and provide clinical services at the QLD Children's Hospital and community services across 13 sites clustered in Central North and South locations.
Role Details Delivering routine Psychology clinical services within the CDS that are family-focussed and goal-oriented
Demonstrating an understanding of child development with experience in using psychometric assessments and other tools or methods to aid diagnostic understanding
Working collaboratively and effectively within multidisciplinary CDS team/s (including working in partnership with children and families) to achieve best practice outcomes for children with complex developmental difficulties and empower families to understand their child.
Communicating appropriately and effectively with children and their families using strengths based and family-centred principles of care to build family capacity to optimise their health and actively manage current and future health care needs.
Documenting client health information to ensure timely coordinated care in multi-disciplinary and/or inter-disciplinary team environment (including written reports, education and professional documents)
Actively participating in clinical practice supervision, ongoing professional development activities and service development/ improvement activities
Commensurate with the level of experience, providing student education and clinical practice supervision for less experienced practitioners, as well as direction to assistant, support staff under guidance of senior clinical practitioners (including education and training).
