As a Psychologist, you will play a key role in improving the mental health, well-being, and rehabilitation of adults in custody. You will be busy, manage a challenging caseload, gain experiential on-the-job learning, and provide quality clinical services including assessments and tailored interventions that support mental health and wellbeing. Queensland Corrective Services has multiple opportunities for a Psychologist to join one of our Correctional Centres in Southern Queensland (Brisbane Correctional Centre, Wolston Correctional Centre, Borallon Training and Correctional Centre, or Southern Queensland Correctional Centre). As a Psychologist, you will play a key role in improving the mental health, well-being, and rehabilitation of adults in custody. You will manage a challenging caseload and provide on-the-job learning while delivering assessments and tailored interventions to support mental health and wellbeing. Your interpersonal skills will enable you to collaborate effectively and sensitively with a diverse range of clients.

• Conduct independent risk assessments of harm to self or others, including acute or chronic risk.
• Provide psychoeducation related to mental health conditions, symptoms and treatment options to individuals.
• Deliver individual or group-based brief, skill acquisition focused interventions aimed at developing coping skills and building resilience.
• Maintain a high level of knowledge and contemporary understanding of psychopathology, diagnostic classification systems, and clinical and psychometric assessment tools.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• Experience in psychological assessment and intervention for adults with mental health conditions, cognitive impairments, or developmental disorders.
• Knowledge of risk assessment tools and rehabilitation strategies in correctional settings.
• Strong communication skills for engaging diverse client groups and stakeholders.
• Ability to apply research-based practices to offender rehabilitation.

• General or provisional registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA (or eligibility to obtain registration upon commencement).
• Bachelor's degree (4-year minimum) in Psychology or Behavioural Science.
• Compliance with National Psychology Board and AHPRA registration standards.
• Professional Indemnity Insurance if engaged in secondary employment.
